Two-tone stainless · Clyro
Flatware you notice once, then stop noticing.
Slim stainless flatware in two tones — a matte black handle running into a matte brushed-gold head. It sits light in the hand and lets the plate do the talking.
The shape
Long and narrow, not heavy.
The Portuguese silhouette is drawn out and slim, rather than the heavy hotel pattern.
Hotel patterns are built to feel substantial in a restaurant. This one is built to feel light through a long dinner at home.
The finish
Two tones, one job.
A matte black handle running into a matte brushed-gold head. On a dark table the handle recedes and the head reads as a small warm line beside the plate.
Bright polished flatware fights a black plate. This does not — which is the reason it exists rather than a nicety.
What is in the box
Twenty pieces, four of each.
A full setting each for four people, with the salad fork and teaspoon there for the courses either side of the main one.
04 · knives
Dinner knives
The long piece of the setting, and the one that sets the proportion for the rest. Narrow through the handle, so it does not crowd the plate.
04 · forks
Dinner forks
The main-course fork, cut to the same long Portuguese line. Balanced to sit in the hand rather than in the fist.
04 · forks
Salad forks
The shorter fork, for a first course or a side. It is what turns one plate of food into a meal with a shape to it.
04 · spoons
Tablespoons
Deep enough for soup and for anything served in a bowl. The piece that gets used most on a table built around dark bowls.
04 · spoons
Teaspoons
Coffee at the end, dessert before it. Twenty pieces in total, which is a service for four with nothing missing.
Service for four. For six or eight at the table you would need a second set.
Four small gold marks either side of the plate, rather than a bank of silver.
Where it lives
Two tables it was drawn for.
Dinner for four on dark porcelain
Laid out on black porcelain, the handles sink into the table and the heads catch whatever light is in the room.
The long evening at home
Light in the hand through a meal with courses either side of the main one — a first course, then coffee at the end.
On white it becomes the decoration rather than the frame.

Questions
Before you order.
Is twenty pieces enough for a dinner party?
It is a full service for four — four each of the knife, dinner fork, salad fork, tablespoon and teaspoon. For six or eight at the table you would need a second set.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
We do not publish a dishwasher rating for this set, so we would rather you did not assume one. If that matters before you buy, ask us and we will find out rather than guess.
How long are the pieces?
We do not have measured lengths to give you. What we can say is the shape: the long, narrow Portuguese line rather than the short heavy one, which reads longer on the table than a standard pattern of the same weight.
Will it clash with plain white plates?
It will read louder against white than against black, because there is nothing for the dark handle to sink into. The set was drawn for a dark table. On white it becomes the decoration rather than the frame.
