Hand-forged darkened brass · Clyro
Three candlesticks that read as one silhouette.
Set them close together and the graduated heights do the work. One composition down the middle of a table, rather than three separate objects competing for the same square foot.
The set
Grouped, not spread out.
Three hand-forged candlesticks in darkened brass, graduated in height, each drawn to a narrow stem above a wide flat foot.
They are at their best grouped close together, where the three heights read as one silhouette rather than three flat repeats.
The finish
Worked into the metal.
The finish is worked rather than plated, so no two are identical and the metal keeps its dark tone rather than flashing gold under a flame.
The wide flat foot is the practical part: it keeps a tall taper steady on a dressed table where a narrow base would not.
Why they work
Six things worth knowing.
Everything here comes from how the set is made and how it behaves once it is lit.
03 · heights
Three graduated heights
The set is designed to be grouped, not spread out. Standing together, the stepped heights give you one rising line instead of three flat repeats.
Darkened brass, worked not plated
The dark tone is worked into the metal rather than laid over it. That is why the candlesticks stay dark under a flame instead of flashing gold.
Narrow stem, wide foot
Each one is drawn to a slim stem above a broad flat base. The proportion is what keeps a tall dinner taper stable and upright.
Hand-forged
Forged by hand rather than cast to a mould, which is why no two in the set are quite identical.
Standard taper fit
They take an ordinary dinner taper, so you are not tied to a proprietary candle to keep them going.
Dark under flame
The tone stays dark when lit, so the light comes off the candle rather than bouncing off the holder.
Hand-forged, so each candlestick differs slightly in profile and finish from the photographs.
One composition down the middle of the table.
Where they go
Two ways to use them.
Down the centre of a dressed table
Stood close together, the stepped heights give one rising line down the middle. The wide flat foot keeps a tall taper upright on a dressed table where a narrow base would not.
Lit night after night
They take an ordinary dinner taper, so you are not tied to a proprietary candle to keep them going.
Darkened metal photographs differently on different screens; expect the tone in the room to read a little warmer than it does here.

Questions
Before you order.
Will they all match?
No, and that is the point. They are hand-forged and the finish is worked rather than plated, so each one carries small differences. If you want three machine-identical holders, these are not those.
Do I need a special candle?
No. They take a standard dinner taper. Our Vestry tapers are listed at a 2.2 cm base and are made to fit these holders, but an ordinary taper of the same size will do.
Can I buy just one?
Not currently. They are sold only as the set of three, because the graduated heights are the design.
Will they go gold-looking once lit?
No. The darkened tone holds under a flame rather than flashing gold, which is what separates them from a plated brass holder.
How will they arrive?
Ships free, with tracking from the moment the parcel is scanned. Most orders arrive within one to two weeks.
